Jamie Morgan, aged 49, of Athelstan Road, Kettering, was sentenced to 27 months’ imprisonment at Northampton Crown Court on 30 June 2026 after pleading guilty to brandishing a knife and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The incident occurred on 12 November 2025 on Valley Walk Green in Kettering. The court heard that Morgan approached a mother walking with her son and attempted to initiate conversation. After the woman declined to speak with him, Morgan became aggressive, got off his mobility scooter, and approached her while brandishing a Stanley knife.
The victim recorded Morgan on her mobile phone and warned him that she would contact the police, leading Morgan to conceal the weapon and leave the area.
A Northamptonshire Police investigation subsequently established that Morgan was subject to an SHPO prohibiting contact with children under 16 years of age. Enquiries revealed Morgan had repeatedly approached and engaged in conversation with the victim’s son over a two-year period.
Appearing before Northampton Crown Court, Morgan pleaded guilty to:
One count of threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place
One count of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO)
The judge handed Morgan a total custodial sentence of 27 months’ imprisonment.
