In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Jake Booth, then 25, of Hall Street, Alfreton, Derbyshire, was sentenced at Derby Crown Court for his involvement in the possession and distribution of vile child abuse material. Jake Booth carried out horrific digital alterations to child sex images, superimposed the faces of his own family members onto the victims, and shared these disturbing files online. When interviewed by Derbyshire Constabulary, Booth admitted he gained sexual gratification from the thought of incest and had engaged in online conversations with another pervert regarding the violent rape of a two-year-old child.

The investigation began after police received information that vile images were being viewed at a property in Alfreton, Derbyshire. A raid on the home of Jake Booth led to the seizure of his laptop, which forensic examiners found contained 359 indecent films and images across all categories. This included over 100 Category A files—the most serious and sickening classification—depicting girls as young as eight being abused by adults. Booth had organised these horrendous images into files with labels such as “young” to facilitate his predatory interests.

Jake Booth pleaded guilty to charges of possession and distribution of indecent images of children. During sentencing, Judge Shaun Smith QC described the case as “disgusting” and “disturbing,” particularly due to the targeting of the defendant’s own family. However, the judge noted that Booth had groomed himself as a child and decided that a community-based approach was the most effective way to prevent his depraved fantasies from becoming reality. Jake Booth was handed a three-year community order, which requires him to participate in intensive one-to-one and group sex offender treatment programmes.

As a result of his convictions for these vile sexual offences, Jake Booth was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years. He was also made subject to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which places legal restrictions on his internet use and his contact with minors. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Derbyshire Constabulary, remaining under supervision for the duration of his order. Any breach of these conditions in the Alfreton or wider Derbyshire area will result in his immediate arrest and a likely custodial sentence.
