In 2026, the Offender Register confirmed that a 20-year-old BRITISH male was the victim of a severe sexual assault in a city park in October 2023. The perpetrator was incarcerated today, Wednesday, July 15th.

43-year-old Islamuddin Talash approached the victim while he was sitting on a bench in Abbey Park on the afternoon of 9 October.

During a brief conversation about bicycles, Talash informed the victim that he had a bicycle he was willing to lend him.

Talash then proposed that they visit his property so that the victim could inspect it. Nevertheless, Talash abducted the victim and raped him in a bush while they were strolling through the park.

Two teenage males developed suspicions about Talash and his conduct before the incident. They were able to record a video and take a photo of him on their smartphones.

The witnesses resolved to observe them and proceeded to the shrubbery. Talash fled, and they were able to protect the victim.

A member of the investigation team elected to stroll through the park and, in the process, observed a man who matched the suspect’s description and image seated on a bench.

He was apprehended in the park and subsequently charged with rape after additional enquiries and medical evidence were obtained.

Talash of Westfield Road in Smethwick was convicted of rape during a trial at Leicester Crown Court last month.

He was sentenced to six years of imprisonment and indefinitely placed on the sex offender register.
