In November 2022, an inquest was opened at Caernarfon Coroner’s Court into the death of Reginald Alan Roach, then aged 63, of Llandygai Road, Bangor.
The court heard details regarding a North Wales Police investigation initiated after a dog walker discovered Roach unresponsive on the vacant Bryn Cegin industrial estate in Bangor on 6 November 2022. A postmortem examination established the cause of death as shock and haemorrhaging resulting from incised wounds removing his genitalia.
At the time of his death, Roach was residing at the Ty Newydd bail hostel in Bangor. He was a registered sex offender who had previously admitted an offence of exposure at a hotel in August 2022.
Roach had been due to appear at Llandudno Magistrates Court in October 2022 to answer charges of failing to comply with notification requirements under the Sex Offenders Register at Caernarfon Police Station.
In November 2022, the acting senior coroner adjourned the inquest proceedings to allow North Wales Police to complete further investigative enquiries, with all public record details archived on the UK Register Database.
