A 40-year-old man who ambushed his former partner, chased her vehicle down a narrow country lane, and leaped onto the bonnet of her car in an attempt to smash through the windscreen has received an immediate custodial sentence of 22 months at Swansea Crown Court.
Daniel Davies, residing at Spring Valley Lakes in Resolven, appeared in the dock for sentence on 22 October 2026 after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and breaching an active court-issued restraining order.
The court heard that Davies had been made subject to a strict restraining order in March 2026, which legally barred him from contacting or approaching the woman. However, across 7 and 8 September 2026, Davies embarked on a campaign of harassment, repeatedly calling the victim and leaving multiple voicemails and text messages containing direct threats to her safety.
The harassment reached a violent climax on 8 September when Davies stationed himself outside the woman’s residential property. As the victim drove past in an effort to leave the area, Davies accelerated behind her, sounding his horn continuously and tailgating her vehicle erratically.
Davies then executed a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre along a narrow lane in Ammanford, pulling sharply across her vehicle to block her route and force her to an emergency halt. Davies jumped out of his car, shouted verbal threats, hammered aggressively on her driver’s side window, and leaped onto the bonnet, where he stamped and attempted to shatter the windscreen.
The victim managed to shift her vehicle into reverse, escaped the confrontation, and contacted Dyfed-Powys Police. Following a search, officers located and arrested Davies on 14 September, charging him the following day.
The court was told Davies had a previous record of violence against women, having previously served a 42-week custodial sentence following a conviction for a serious, unprovoked assault.
At Swansea Crown Court, Davies admitted:
One count of breaching a restraining order
One count of dangerous driving
Under statutory UK reporting standards, the victim in these domestic abuse proceedings is protected by legal provisions prohibiting the public disclosure of identifying details across broadcast, print, and digital channels.
Sentencing Davies, the judge condemned the terror inflicted upon the victim during the vehicular pursuit and violent confrontation, ordering him to serve an immediate prison term of 22 months alongside renewed protective measures.
