In 2022, Imran Ijaz, the Leeds Paedophile, a child abuser who fled to Scotland during his trial, was sentenced to imprisonment.
Imran Ijaz, hailing from Leeds, absconded to Edinburgh four days into his trial for several sexual offences against a minor.
Imran Ijaz was convicted in absentia of penetration assault, forcing a child to observe a sexual act, and six counts of sexual assault.
Imran Ijaz, 39, of Lascelles View, Harehills, received a sentence of thirteen years and two months in prison.
Detective Inspector Emma Wight stated, “Imran Ijaz repeatedly sexually assaulted this vulnerable young girl in a manner that constituted a profound betrayal of trust.”
“He attempted to evade justice during his trial by fleeing to Scotland, but was located and returned to confront the repercussions.”
“His actions have profoundly traumatised the victim and her family. We anticipate that his conviction for these offences and the substantial sentence imposed will reassure them as they progress with their lives.”
