In November 2022, Ian Wynter, then aged 59, of Loughborough, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to 13 child protection charges.
The court heard details regarding a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into an international digital abuse network. Prosecutors outlined how Wynter made payments to facilitators in the Philippines and Indonesia to perform serious offences against two-year-old male children over live video calls during 2018 and 2019.
NCA officers arrested Wynter at his residence in January 2020 following an extensive review of chat logs and financial records. Digital forensic examinations of his hardware revealed over 17,000 indecent images of children.
Wynter entered formal guilty pleas to 13 counts, including encouraging the sexual assault and rape of a child under 13.
