In 2022, the Offender Database confirmed that after being convicted of attempting to engage in online sexual offences with multiple children, Geoffrey Douthwaite, a paedophile who described himself as a “creepy and dirty old man, ” had been incarcerated for six years.
Geoffrey Douthwaite, 59, of Woodlands Drive, Thetford, was apprehended as a consequence of child “decoy” operations conducted by online child abuse activist groups (OCAGs).
Between January 3, 2021, and May 1, 2021, he created a Facebook profile named “Daffy Daffy”. He engaged in sexual communication with 11 child decoys that were operated by members of four distinct OCAGs who were masquerading as underage children.
During the conversations that Douthwaite initiated between the female child decoys, he confesses to being aware of their ages and making inappropriate comments. He also requested nude photographs and video calls with decoys who were between the ages of 11 and 14.
He stated in a Facebook comment to a decoy 14-year-old girl named ‘Charlie’ that “14 is the perfect age to see if someone is hot, and I certainly think you are.”
In other instances, he is considerably more explicit and requests video calls to request or demonstrate sexual behaviour.
He was apprehended that afternoon on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children and engaging in sexual activity with a child after police were shown his Facebook messages.
Subsequently, a search was conducted at Douthwaite’s residence, and his internet-connected devices were confiscated for examination. In addition, he was apprehended on suspicion of engaging in erotic communication with a child in connection with his messages to other child “decoys.”
On Thursday, November 17, Douthwaite entered a plea of guilty at Norwich Crown Court after being convicted of 11 counts of an adult inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, five counts of inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity, one count of attempting to incite a child to look at sexual activity, and one attempt to incite a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity.
Douthwaite was also issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and had his devices destroyed.
