In 2021, after being observed observing children at a play park, Gary Loftus, a paedophile from Torquay, is now facing the possibility of imprisonment.

Under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, Gary Loftus was prohibited from interacting with children. However, he violated the order by visiting the park in South Devon.

He has already been incarcerated once for violating the order by befriending a family with children without disclosing that he was a registered sex offender.

Loftus, who was then 67 years old, alleges that he walked past the playground without stopping to leer at the children, prompting a fact-finding hearing at Exeter Crown Court.

According to Judge Timothy Rose, Loftus was observed by a witness to be stroking himself sexually for a period of up to an hour while standing behind a wall near the play area.

He stated that the sentence would be significantly altered; however, he cautioned Loftus that he is almost certain to be incarcerated when the case is reheard in court next month.

He stated, “We must determine whether he was loitering for an hour and engaging in masturbation or merely passing by and observing the children.”

“He is permitted to remain on bail; however, this does not necessarily indicate a sentence.” It is nearly unthinkable to envision any other outcome than a prison sentence.

Loftus, then 67, of Wellesley Road, Torquay, admitted to violating two counts of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
