Lincolnshire Police reported that Douglas Bowyer, 67, of Boston, maintained thousands of indecent images and videos of minors and conducted sexual communication with them for nearly two decades.
According to the police, he acknowledged that he had impersonated a 19-year-old named Danny and had communicated with approximately 50 minors. Bowyer also described himself as “a stereotypical dirty old man.”
He was instructed to register as a sex offender for life and was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order during his sentencing at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday.
Police reported that over 19,000 indecent images and 628 indecent videos were discovered on 21 devices after Bowyer was apprehended in November 2020.
According to the police, he employed applications like Snapchat and Chat Avenue to communicate with his victims.
Bowyer entered a guilty plea to the following offences during a hearing in April of this year:
- Engaging in sexual communication with a child
- Two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child
- Three counts of causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity
- Attempting to cause or incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity
- Six counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child
- Possessing a prohibited image of a child
- Possessing extreme pornographic image/images portraying rape
- Possessing extreme pornographic image/images portraying an act of intercourse/oral sex with a dead/alive animal
He was jailed for eight years.
