Deividas Zilinskas perpetrated a sexual assault on the victim after stalking her to her residence in July 2021.
A 23-year-old resident of Coleman Road, Bournemouth, Deividas Zilinskas, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, 10 December 2021, after pleading guilty to charges of attempted rape, assault, and three counts of sexual assault at a prior hearing.
The woman informed Dorset Police that she was walking when a man, Deividas Zilinskas, began to accompany her.
She expressed discomfort, successfully distancing herself from him and seeking refuge in a garden, but upon resuming her walk, the man reemerged and accompanied her once more.
Deividas Zilinskas inappropriately touched her twice before forcibly entering the residence and sexually abusing her.
During the call to the police, the victim conveyed that she had ultimately succeeded in expelling the man from her residence and had promptly contacted the authorities.
Officers searched the vicinity, but the individual was not located.
The Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) of Dorset Police examined CCTV footage and identified a picture of the suspect carrying a distinctive knapsack.
Officers conducted door-to-door investigations, presenting locals with a leaflet with a CCTV image of the suspect.
A public member identified the individual, and upon officers visiting his residence, they discovered a bag that corresponded with the one seen on the suspect in the CCTV footage.
Deividas Zilinskas was apprehended, and forensic evidence was discovered connecting him to the incident.
