In 2026, the Offender Register reported that Danny Tetley, a Bradford X Factor paedophile who was incarcerated in 2020 for sexually exploiting young boys, had been released from prison. He was described as “despicable.”
Tetley, who is currently 44 years old, was sentenced to a 17-year prison term, which in British Justice equates to just nine years in prison and an additional eight years of closely monitored supervision, so not a 17-year prison term.
He was incarcerated for exploiting his celebrity status to sexually abuse seven boys between the ages of 14 and 16.
Tetley, who was previously residing in St. Enoch’s Road, Wibsey, Bradford, entered a plea of guilty to seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and two counts of distributing indecent images of children.
The city’s top judge stated that Tetley’s depravity had “tarnished and destroyed” his TV singing career as he was led to the cells at Bradford Crown Court following the hearing.
In the 2018 season of The X Factor, Tetley advanced to the semi-finals.
The T&A contacted the Ministry of Justice for comment after learning that Tetley had been released from custody.
Tetley has completed over six years of his nine-year custodial sentence.
His Honour Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, the Recorder of Bradford at the time of Tetley’s sentencing in January 2020, stated, “Those in the public eye do not have a licence to abuse those who are mesmerised by them.”
“A despicable creature with very few redeeming features, you will be perceived as such by many.”
The judge characterised Tetley as a dangerous predator, as he was attired in a grey round-necked sweatshirt and blue denim.
He was accused of abusing seven boys by paying them to submit naked photographs and images of themselves in boxer shorts, according to the court.
