On 31 July 2026, Daniel Coleman, aged 40, of Bishops Road, Peterborough, was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court to four and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple child sexual offences and court order breaches.
The court heard details regarding a Cambridgeshire Police investigation initiated after Coleman made contact with a social media account in May 2025. Coleman engaged in explicit communication and attempted to arrange a meeting with the profile, believing the user to be a 13-year-old girl. The account was in fact a decoy operated by an online child protection group.
Despite the decoy user stating her age on multiple occasions, Coleman continued sending sexual messages. Cambridgeshire Police officers conducted digital enquiries, tracing the IP address utilized by the profile directly to Coleman’s residence before executing his arrest.
Coleman entered guilty pleas to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, inciting a girl aged 13-15 to engage in sexual activity, and failing to comply with sex offender register requirements.
On Friday 31 July 2026, the presiding judge handed Coleman a four-and-a-half-year custodial term, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
