In 2021, Damian Lasota, a then 27-year-old man from Bath, was jailed following an extensive Avon and Somerset Police investigation into a series of predatory sexual attacks against older women.
Damian Lasota, of Parry Close, Southdown, Bath, was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court to a total of 20 years, comprising a 13-and-a-half-year custodial term and an extended licence period of six and a half years. He previously pleaded guilty to charges including attempted rape, two counts of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, and two counts of exposure. The court heard how Lasota targeted vulnerable women aged in their 60s and 70s in the Twerton area, stalking their addresses in the dead of night while masked.
His campaign of offending involved breaking into a victim’s residence, exposing himself, and attempting a serious sexual assault before fleeing the scene. In response to widespread community concerns, police deployed plain-clothed officers alongside custom CCTV surveillance at target properties. Security cameras subsequently captured Lasota returning to prowl outside the addresses on multiple occasions. Officers arrested him nearby following a brief pursuit, seizing items including face coverings, torches, and a mobile phone containing incriminating digital searches related to his offending.
In addition to his extended prison sentence, Lasota was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely. Furthermore, he was permanently barred from working with children or vulnerable adults through inclusion on the Disclosure and Barring Service list.
