Adam Shepheard, who avoided an immediate custodial sentence after being caught in possession of hundreds of illicit images showing the sexual abuse and rape of young children, is currently employed delivering kitchen appliances directly into private households throughout Devon.
Shepheard appeared for sentencing at Exeter Crown Court on 15 February 2023 following an investigation by Devon and Cornwall Police into digital child abuse material. The court was informed that Shepheard had amassed an extensive collection numbering in the hundreds of indecent images of children. The material featured victims as young as five years of age, with a substantial portion classified under the most severe Category A bracket depicting explicit rape and sexual torture.
The presiding judge sentenced Shepheard to a 12-month prison sentence suspended for an operational period of 12 months. The sentence was accompanied by an order to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days with the Probation Service, a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his access to unsupervised children and digital devices, and a requirement to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
Having previously escaped widespread local media coverage at the time of his sentence, Shepheard has continued to reside in Heathfield, near Newton Abbot, where his address is located within close walking distance of a local primary school.
Enquiries have established that Shepheard is currently employed by Sparkworld, an independent electrical appliance retailer operating from the Heathfield Industrial Estate. His day-to-day employment includes warehouse duties and operating as a two-man delivery driver transporting heavy white goods—including cookers, ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers—inside private domestic properties, granting him direct access to unsuspecting members of the public inside their homes.
