Lewis Ashworth, a convicted child rapist who carried out a five-year campaign of sexual abuse against two young sisters, has been released from prison for a second time after serving a recall period for breaching his licence conditions.

Ashworth appeared at the Old Bailey in April 2018, where he was sentenced to an immediate determinate term of 12 years’ imprisonment. The court heard that Ashworth subjected two vulnerable young sisters to sustained sexual violence over a five-year timeframe at an address in east London.

The trial was told that Ashworth raped the older sister beneath a blanket whilst the two were watching television. His offending extended to her younger sister, whom he trapped and sexually assaulted inside a bathroom. During the attack, Ashworth compelled the child to open her mouth before urinating into it.

The presiding judge directed strong disdain towards the children’s mother for failing to protect the girls or intervene to halt the sustained campaign of abuse, though she was not charged with any criminal offences.

Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.

Ashworth was initially released from prison on licence in 2025 after completing the custodial portion of his sentence. However, he was subsequently arrested and recalled to prison custody following documented breaches of the statutory conditions and orders imposed upon him. Having completed the recall requirement, Ashworth has now been discharged from prison back into the community.

Fresh public safeguarding concerns have emerged following disclosures that Ashworth has been regularly attending an address in Tulse Hill, south London. The property belongs to a woman who resides there with her young daughter. Available reference images of Ashworth date from his conviction at the Central Criminal Court in 2018.
