Callum Bailey, aged 27, of Fowler Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, has been sentenced to an additional four weeks’ imprisonment at Warrington Magistrates’ Court after being convicted of assault by beating against his former partner.
The custodial sentence will run consecutively to a separate four-year and four-month prison term Bailey began serving in August following a conviction for a sexual assault offence committed in December 2023.
The court heard that on 11 January, Bailey and the victim returned to their address after attending an evening gathering in Congleton.
An altercation arose when the victim stated she wished to go to bed, causing Bailey to become verbally aggressive and direct insults toward her regarding her body weight.
When the victim made attempts to leave the property to de-escalate the situation, Bailey moved to block her passage, forced her down onto the floor, and physically seized her mobile phone.
He then concealed the device to prevent her from contacting emergency services or relatives.
As the victim attempted to locate where the phone had been hidden, Bailey forced her hand into an open drawer and slammed it closed against her limb.
The victim managed to break away and make her way toward the property exit, at which point Bailey attempted to strike her with a headbutt and threatened to throw her down the stairs.
The following day, the victim returned to the property in a further attempt to retrieve her phone.
Upon entering, she found that a pair of her shoes had been deliberately urinated on by Bailey.
Bailey entered a plea of not guilty but was convicted of assault by beating following a summary trial before magistrates.
Appearing for sentence on Monday, 14 September, the bench imposed a four-week custodial term to be served consecutively to his existing prison sentence.
Magistrates also granted a restraining order running until 13 September 2030, prohibiting Bailey from contacting the complainant through any medium or entering a specified residential address.
Release Calculation: Under UK determinate sentencing rules, standard summary offences served consecutively are integrated into the total custodial period. Bailey will serve one-half (two weeks) of the additional four-week term in prison custody before the remainder is added to his existing licence period overseen by the Probation Service.
