Detectives from British Transport Police (BTP) investigating a sexual assault outside Vauxhall Underground station have released CCTV imagery of a man they wish to identify in connection with the incident.

The offence took place shortly after 8:00 am on Sunday, 30 August. According to investigators, a young girl was standing outside the entrance of Vauxhall Underground station when an unknown male approached her. The man initiated conversation, speaking to the child inappropriately before subjecting her to a sexual assault. He then departed the immediate area on foot.

Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.

Specialist transport detectives believe the man shown in the CCTV footage may possess vital information that could assist their inquiries.

British Transport Police are asking anyone who recognises the individual, witnessed the incident, or has any relevant information to contact them by:
