Zak Allinson, aged 24, of Ventnor Street, Bradford, has been handed an extended determinate sentence exceeding 15 years at Bradford Crown Court after being convicted of raping a teenage schoolgirl on three separate occasions, escaping custody, and threatening to stab the victim while evading arrest for 17 months.
The court heard that Allinson initially established contact with the victim on the social media platform Snapchat. In an effort to manipulate the child and obscure the disparity in their ages, Allinson falsely told her that he had only recently left school. The victim subsequently agreed to meet him at Bradford Interchange, where Allinson took her to a residential flat. Despite the girl attempting to ward him off by stating that she was menstruating, Allinson pinned her down by her wrists and raped her. When the distressed victim insisted on returning home, Allinson ordered a taxi but forced the child to pay the fare herself.
Less than one month later, Allinson spotted the child as she walked to school. He shouted at her to enter a taxi, and out of fear, she complied. Allinson transported her to another property where he raped her twice. As the victim screamed out in physical pain, Allinson covered her mouth with his hand to muffle her cries and stated that he would not cease the assault until she became pregnant with his child.
Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.
When West Yorkshire Police officers attended to arrest Allinson in connection with the allegations, he climbed through a bedroom window and fled the scene. While actively evading law enforcement, Allinson made contact with the young victim and issued threats to stab the life out of her if she assisted the police inquiry. His period on the run lasted 17 months, coming to an end when officers tracked him to an address where he attempted to flee through another window and punched an arresting officer before being restrained.
Allinson entered guilty pleas to three counts of rape, escaping lawful custody, witness intimidation, and handling stolen goods relating to three stolen motorbikes.
The presiding judge categorised Allinson as a dangerous offender under statutory criteria, passing an extended sentence of 14 years for the sexual and public justice offences, comprising a custodial term of 11 years and eight months alongside an extended licence period of three years. The judge directed that a further 20-month custodial sentence for the handling stolen goods offences be served consecutively, bringing the total immediate custodial element to 13 years and four months.
Because Allinson received an extended sentence for serious sexual violence, automatic halfway release provisions do not apply. He must serve at least two-thirds of the 11-year-and-eight-month term alongside the consecutive sentence in prison custody before the Parole Board can evaluate his case for potential licence release. Upon any eventual release, he will remain subject to licence conditions and supervision for the duration of the entire term, alongside indefinite notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register and protective behavioural orders.
