A 12-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in Macduff, Aberdeenshire.
Police Scotland confirmed that officers were alerted to an incident at a play park in the Duff Street area of Macduff on Monday, 10 August 2026. Following the report, an investigation was initiated into the allegations of a sexual assault against the young victim.
Following inquiries, officers arrested and charged the 12-year-old male youth in relation to the park attack.
Police Scotland confirmed that a formal report regarding the charge will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal:

Legal proceedings will now continue under the direction of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
