After our City of Manchester CID conducted an investigation, a rapist was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Gorton resident Bilal Alfroh was convicted on multiple counts of rape and actual bodily injury on February 12, 1991.
On June 19, 2026, he was imprisoned at Minshull Crown Court after admitting an additional crime of real bodily harm.
He has a lifelong restraining order against his victim and will serve at least two-thirds of his sentence.
“I would like to thank everyone who was with me, supported me and made me feel that I was never alone,” the female victim wrote in a statement she prepared for the court.
“Thank you for everything, even those I may have only seen once but who gave me a sense of security at that precise moment.”One day, hopefully, I’ll be able to put all of this behind me and resume my life. I appreciate you listening to what I had to say.
Alfroh subjected his victim to a prolonged campaign of physical and sexual abuse, which included dousing her in hot tea and hurling a gym weight.
“The victim has shown immense bravery in reporting these horrific crimes so Alfroh could be brought to justice,” stated Detective Constable Adam Gawecki.
She described in her statement how this terrible string of events has affected her, including how it has affected her sadness and sleep, as well as how it has affected her social skills.
“The victim described how the defendant would act aggressively toward her and repeatedly raped her.”
Never forget to report it if you’re unsure.
