Barrymore James, the Leicester paedophile, has been incarcerated for sexually abusing a child beginning at the age of approximately five years.
The criminal activities perpetrated by Barrymore James commenced in 1990 and persisted until approximately 1998, occasionally occurring two or three times weekly.
His activities were reported to the authorities in 2021 when his victim, now an adult, came forward to disclose the events that transpired.
She stated that Barrymore James ceased his abuse when she was approximately 13 years old.
During discussions with police from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit’s (CAIU) non-recent team, she recounted instances in which Barrymore James compelled her to consume crack cocaine and heroin prior to the abuse occurring.
She further stated that there were other instances in which he compelled her to view pornographic material.
Barrymore James was interviewed about the allegations and dismissed the victim’s claims. However, he was subsequently charged with a string of sexual offences.
On 22 July, following a trial at Leicester Crown Court, the 65-year-old was found guilty of:
- 12 counts of indecent assault
- Two counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 years
- Two counts of indecency with a child
Today (Monday 20 October) at the same court, Black British, Barrymore James – of no fixed abode – was sentenced to 24 years’ imprisonment.
