In 2021, the Offender Register confirmed that, in prison, a paedophile who sexually assaulted numerous young boys had passed away, less than 12 months into his 17-year sentence.
In March of the previous year, Antony Busfield was incarcerated for a series of atrocious offences against schoolboys, including rape.
The 84-year-old retired architect acknowledged that he committed the offences as a result of his loneliness following the death of his wife.
He succumbed to illness while incarcerated at Stafford Prison, where he was serving the sentence imposed by Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
A recent inquest has revealed that Busfield was afflicted with a variety of health issues, including cardiac disease.
Busfield’s death on January 19 was determined to be the result of natural causes by South Staffordshire Coroner Andrew Haigh.
Mr Haigh stated that Mr Busfield passed away at the age of 84. He was a prisoner at HMP Stafford and was known to have significant heart disease.
He succumbed to acute illness and passed away in prison on January 19. Clinicians were cognisant of the ailments that Mr Busfield was experiencing; therefore, there was no necessity for a post-mortem examination.
Busfield’s victims were allegedly corrupted by the pornographic videos and images he displayed at his Longsdon farm, according to the Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
He would direct them to perform sexual acts on themselves and others, including himself. In 2017, the authorities were informed of his criminal activities.
Busfield, who was previously residing on Sutherland Road in Longsdon, entered a guilty plea to the following charges: the rape of a child under 13, four counts of causing a child to witness a sexual act, four counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, four counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, sexual activity with a child, and attempted sexual activity with a child.
