In 2024, the Offender Database reported that a former Uckfield Paedophile piano teacher, Anthony Roberts, at an East Sussex boarding school, had been sentenced to jail for sexually assaulting two young boys.
Anthony Roberts, 83, of Framfield Road, Uckfield, worked at Boarzell School in Etchingham from 1965 until 1974, when it closed.
Roberts sexually molested two young boys while teaching piano. The abuse began while they were both under the age of ten and persisted for several years.
The first of the assaults was reported to Sussex Police in 2017, and a second victim came forward after a media appeal.
Roberts was arrested and charged with two charges of indecent assault on a youngster under the age of 14, as well as two counts of instigating a boy under the age of 14 to commit gross indecency.
Roberts was found guilty of all four crimes by Hove Crown Court on June 25 and sentenced to six years in jail.
Detective Constable Stuart Roberts stated, “Anthony Roberts exploited his position of trust to take advantage of these youngsters in the most horrific way.
“Both of these victims have had to deal with the consequences of his crimes for decades. I’d like to thank them both for reporting the incident to the police, which allowed us to bring Roberts to justice.
“This inquiry should send a clear message that time is not a barrier to reporting wrongdoing. Please report any incident, regardless of how long ago it occurred, to the police.
“We will believe you, and we will do everything we can to get you the justice you deserve.”
