The Newton Aycliffe Paedophile, Alan Wilson, perpetrated “utterly despicable” offences, some of which he recorded, over many days in 2024.
Durham Crown Court was informed that the 63-year-old defendant, Alan Wilson, previously of good character, has been evaluated as presenting a high risk of damage to children, while posing a reduced risk to others.
Alan Wilson, residing on Hatfield Road in Newton Aycliffe, was apprehended and charged with 19 crimes, all of which he confessed to following the revelation of his actions.
There were nine charges of sexual assault, seven charges of causing or persuading a child under 13 to participate in sexual behaviour, two charges of participating in sexual conduct in the presence of a child, and one charge of possessing obscene photos of a child.
In addressing Alan Wilson, Recorder Enoch characterised the actions as “despicable offences.”
The Recorder, sounding like he had not met a paedophile before, stated: “It is profoundly concerning that a man of your age and character would permit himself to fall victim to systematic grooming and sexual assault of a young girl.”
“Despite the absence of a psychiatric evaluation of the complainant, I am confident that she will endure psychological repercussions due to your actions, even if she did not comprehend the wrongdoing of your behaviour.”
The Recorder Enoch sentenced the defendant, Alan Wilson, to a cumulative prison term of 12 years.
