A Maidstone sex offender, Alan Richens, was imprisoned for disseminating what the lead investigator called the worst pictures and films they had ever seen.
For posting hundreds of offensive pictures of young children on the Telegram app, Alan Richens was given a three-year prison sentence.
After his release, he will be subject to a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and be permanently listed on the sex offenders’ register.
On November 12, 2025, Kent Police learned that a social media user had posted offensive pictures of youngsters online.
According to preliminary investigations, Richens was the culprit.
When officers broke into his London Road home, they discovered him dozing off. A cell phone was seized after he was taken into custody.
When digital forensic experts examined the device’s contents, they discovered pornographic Telegram exchanges between Richens and another account that talked about child sex abuse.
The 51-year-old exchanged over 218 offensive photographs during the conversation.
Richens was accused of creating and disseminating offensive images of children after investigators found similar-themed conversation threads with other Telegram users.
On Monday, June 22, 2026, he was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to the charges.
