A Birmingham teacher, Adam Sherwood, who worked as a private tutor and sexually molested two youngsters, has been imprisoned.

While working as a tutor at his Moseley home, Adam Sherwood misused his position of trust.

After a trial in March, the 57-year-old was found guilty on four charges of sexually touching a youngster under the age of thirteen. The offences occurred in 2023 and 2019.

Sherwood was sentenced to two years and six months in prison when he returned to Birmingham Crown Court on June 19. Additionally, he was permanently added to the sex offenders registry.

Every week, Sherwood coached a youngster in arithmetic and English at his house, touching him improperly for a long time until the boy told his parents.

Sherwood lied and denied that the touching was sexual when he was taken into custody and questioned. He criticised the boy’s actions, saying he was forcing him to remain still in class.

At a Birmingham climbing centre, Sherwood also touched another youngster under the age of thirteen inappropriately.

Sherwood denied that the touching was sexual during the interview, saying he had reacted just before the youngster was going to kick him in the face while climbing.
