In 2022, Abbas Abbass, then aged 40, of Peterborough, was sentenced at crown court to 18 years in prison with an extended licence period of six years after being convicted of multiple counts of rape.
The court heard details regarding a Cambridgeshire Constabulary investigation launched into an attack that took place in Peterborough city centre. Prosecutors outlined how Abbass targeted a female victim in the city centre and subjected her to repeated sexual assaults.
Following police enquiries and subsequent court proceedings, Abbass was convicted of multiple counts of rape.
The presiding judge handed Abbass an extended sentence, ordering that he serve 18 years in custody followed by six years on licence upon release.
