A 33-year-old Bristol man has received an immediate custodial sentence of 15 years at Bristol Crown Court after being convicted of a series of serious sexual offences against two young girls, including the rape of a child under the age of 13.

Patrick Luckett, residing in St George, Bristol, appeared in the dock for sentence on Monday 2 November 2026 having been found guilty of seven child sexual abuse offences following a trial before a Crown Court jury.

The court heard that the offending spanned a 10-year period between 2011 and 2021. Detectives from Avon and Somerset Police launched an investigation after receiving formal reports from the mothers of both young victims, who disclosed that their children had been sexually abused by Luckett.

Detailed disclosures revealed that Luckett had carried out repeated sexual assaults against both young girls, escalating to the rape of one child under the age of 13 and coercing the victims into sexual activity.

Throughout the criminal investigation and court proceedings, Luckett entered not guilty pleas and maintained that the allegations were untrue and had never taken place. However, following deliberations at the conclusion of his trial in July 2025, the jury rejected his defence and found him guilty across the indictment:

One count of rape of a child under 13

Three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13

Three counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity

Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, both child victims are protected by mandatory, lifelong statutory anonymity. Any publication, broadcast, or public dissemination of information capable of leading to their identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Sentencing Luckett, the presiding judge condemned the prolonged abuse of trust and the profound harm inflicted on two young children over a decade, ordering him to serve an immediate prison sentence of 15 years.

In addition to the custodial sentence, the court handed Luckett an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposing strict lifelong restrictions, an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victims, and directed that he register with police under the statutory notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register for life.
