A 39-year-old man from Wallingford has been sentenced to five years and four months’ imprisonment at Oxford Crown Court after admitting to repeated penetrative sexual activity and illicit communication involving a child.
Karl Miles, of Ipsden Court, Cholsey, Wallingford, appeared for sentence on 23 July 2026 following a criminal inquiry conducted by Thames Valley Police into child sexual exploitation in South Oxfordshire.
The prosecution outlined that Miles targeted a young female victim aged between 13 and 15 years old. Over the course of the offending, Miles engaged in illegal sexual communications with the child before carrying out physical and penetrative sexual assaults.
The physical abuse included repeated incidents of digital penetration, as well as broader penetrative sexual activity committed by Miles whilst an adult over the age of 18.
Following his arrest and charge by Thames Valley Police safeguarding detectives, Miles appeared at Oxford Crown Court on 22 June 2026, where he formally entered guilty pleas to all three charges on the indictment:
One count of an offender aged 18 or over engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child aged 13 to 15 on multiple occasions by digital penetration

Passing sentence on 23 July 2026, the Crown Court judge handed Miles an immediate custodial term of five years and four months (64 months) behind bars.
The court further ordered that Miles be subject to lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003. In addition, Miles was barred permanently from working or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults, with strict statutory licence supervision conditions to be enforced upon his eventual release from custody.
Under the provisions of Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all child victims and complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
