Cumbria Constabulary has launched an urgent public appeal and cross-border manhunt to locate 38-year-old registered sex offender Michal Rygielski, who is wanted after absconding from legal proceedings.
Rygielski is wanted on outstanding arrest warrants after failing to appear before the court as required, alongside formal breaches of his statutory sex offender notification order under Part 2 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Intelligence inquiries conducted by investigating officers suggest that Rygielski has fled northern England and travelled into Scotland. Law enforcement agencies are focusing active tracing inquiries across both the Edinburgh and Glasgow areas.
Police have released the following physical description:
- Name: Michal Rygielski
- Age: 38
- Height: Approximately 5ft 10ins (178 cm)
- Build: Medium
- Distinguishing Features: Blue eyes and receding hair
Officers are advising the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings directly to authorities rather than attempting to approach him.
Anyone who has seen Rygielski or has details concerning his current whereabouts is urged to contact Cumbria Constabulary on 101 quoting his name. Information can also be provided completely anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
