Wayne Elliot, a convicted sex offender who carried out a campaign of sexual abuse against four young girls spanning nearly 11 years, is due to be released from prison this morning after serving seven years in custody.

Elliot appeared at the High Court of Justiciary in Edinburgh in 2019, where he formally entered guilty pleas to an indictment charging rape, lewd and libidinous practices, and sexual assault.

The court was told that the offences took place between October 2007 and September 2018. Elliot targeted four female victims whose ages ranged between six and 16 at the time of the abuse. The proceedings revealed that the offences were repeated, often violent, and took place at residential properties across North West Edinburgh, Central Fife, and North East Fife.

Under UK and Scots law, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.

Following his guilty pleas in 2019, Elliot was handed a custodial sentence for the abuse. Having served seven years behind bars, his scheduled discharge from prison takes place today, allowing him to return to the community.

Upon release, Elliot remains subject to statutory licence requirements, the supervision of criminal justice social work, and notification requirements under the Sex Offenders Register. Any violation of his licence conditions or notification orders carries the sanction of immediate arrest and recall to prison custody.
