Keith Jason Breeze, aged 50, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, has been sentenced to seven years and six months’ imprisonment at Liverpool Crown Court after being convicted of a sustained campaign of grooming and sexual abuse against a 14-year-old child.
The court heard that Breeze systematically groomed the schoolgirl over an extended timeframe, using presents and gifts to ingratiate himself and manipulate her compliance. To conceal the offending, Breeze repeatedly warned the child never to disclose what was taking place, framing the physical contact and interactions as a shared secret between them.
The illicit activity was uncovered when the victim’s mother gained access to Breeze’s mobile telephone and discovered indecent photographs of a child stored on the device. She reported the material to police, initiating an inquiry by detectives that brought the full scale of the offending to light.
Under UK legislation, all victims of sexual offences are protected by lifelong statutory anonymity.
During the trial proceedings, the court heard that Breeze had claimed to be a member of a local football hooligan firm known as the Wigan “goon squad”. Following the presentation of digital forensic evidence and witness testimony, the jury deliberated and returned unanimous guilty verdicts across 12 separate counts on the indictment, comprising offences of sexual assault against a child under the age of 16 and making indecent images of a child.
On 16 July 2026, the trial judge handed Breeze a determinate custodial sentence of seven years and six months. Under statutory sentencing provisions governing determinate sentences of seven years or more for serious sexual offences, Breeze will be required to serve two-thirds of his sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible to be considered for release on licence.
Breeze was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register and made subject to preventative behavioural orders. While statutory reporting restrictions initially prevented details of the conviction from being published at the time of the hearing, those legal orders have now expired, allowing Breeze to be publicly identified.
