Sean Worley, then aged 33, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced to two years and four months’ imprisonment at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday, 4 September, after being convicted of five breaches of court-ordered sexual offender restrictions.
The custodial sentence follows proactive enforcement action carried out by Cumbria Constabulary’s Management of Sexual and Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) unit.
Worley had previously been made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) alongside statutory Sex Offender Notification Requirements following convictions for serious child sex offences committed between 2016 and 2024.
On 5 July 2026, MOSOVO officers attended Worley’s residence to carry out an unannounced compliance check.
As part of their statutory monitoring duties, officers conducted an inspection of his handheld mobile device.
Under the restrictive terms of his SHPO, Worley is legally prohibited from clearing the internet browsing or search history on any device he operates.
A forensic triage of the phone revealed that Worley had performed a manual deletion of his web browsing logs at 6.30 am that morning, shortly before officers arrived.
Further examination of the device revealed that Worley had recently installed and subsequently uninstalled multiple social media and dating applications.
Inquiries confirmed that Worley had utilised these accounts to communicate with hundreds of women.
Under the conditions of his SHPO and notification requirements, Worley is strictly prohibited from creating or using digital communications accounts without first obtaining explicit authorisation from his designated offender manager.
Detective Constable Anna Ritson, of the MOSOVO team, emphasised the critical nature of compliance monitoring, stating that these orders are specifically enacted to safeguard the wider public and that officers will consistently take robust enforcement action against non-compliant offenders.
Appearing before Carlisle Crown Court, Worley was sentenced for:
- Three counts of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order
- Two counts of failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements
The presiding judge handed Worley an immediate custodial term of two years and four months (28 months).
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing standard determinate sentences, Worley is entitled to automatic statutory release on licence at the halfway mark. He is required to serve one-half (14 months / one year and two months) of his 28-month sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible for release on licence. Upon release, Worley will serve the remaining 14 months under strict supervision by the Probation Service in the community, subject to recall to prison if he breaches his licence conditions.
