Kenan Samuel, then aged 28, of Lysons Close, Alconbury Weald, near Huntingdon, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment (60 months) at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday, 28 August 2026, after admitting to filming himself sexually assaulting an unconscious woman.
The prosecution followed an investigation by Cambridgeshire Constabulary into an incident that occurred in the early hours of 19 December 2020.
The court heard that on the previous evening, Samuel invited the victim and a male acquaintance to his residence for drinks.
After the victim went to bed and fell asleep, Samuel climbed into bed alongside her and initiated sexual contact, assaulting her while she was passed out and unable to provide consent.
Samuel used his mobile telephone to record video footage of the sexual assault.
Police inquiries also established that Samuel had taken the victim’s mobile phone without permission, transmitted a private nude image of the victim to his own handset, and deleted the sent message log from her device to conceal his actions.
Officers seized and examined Samuel’s mobile device after the victim reported the matter to the police, recovering the video footage and data showing the unauthorised transfer.
Samuel pleaded guilty to:
- Assaulting a female by penetration with part of a body or a thing
- Voyeurism
- Causing a computer to perform a function to secure unauthorised access to data
Detective Constable Sally Muntane-Crane commended the victim’s strength and bravery throughout the investigation, describing Samuel as a dangerous individual who took calculated advantage of a vulnerable victim.
The presiding judge handed down a custodial sentence of five years’ imprisonment.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing sexual offences, Samuel is required to serve two-thirds (40 months / 3 years and 4 months) of his 60-month sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible for statutory release on licence. His projected release date falls in December 2029, whereupon he will remain subject to licence conditions and statutory community supervision until the expiration of the full term in August 2031.
