A 23-year-old serving Metropolitan Police officer has appeared in court charged with three counts of rape following an investigation conducted by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Mohammad Adil Waheed, aged 23, of London, appeared before St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27 August 2026. The charges follow an inquiry conducted by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT) into alleged off-duty offences committed against a woman in July 2025.

Officers executed the arrest of Waheed in London on Thursday, 4 December 2025. Following extensive investigative enquiries and consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, detectives formally charged Waheed on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, with three separate counts of rape.

Waheed is a serving Police Constable with the Metropolitan Police Service. Force officials confirmed that he was suspended from all duties following his initial arrest in December 2025 and remains suspended from duty pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

Appearing at St Albans Magistrates’ Court, Waheed was formally charged with:

  • Three counts of rape

The case has been committed to the Crown Court for further plea and trial preparation proceedings.
