A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged with rape, while detectives have released CCTV images of a second individual they are seeking to trace following a serious sexual assault in Normanton.

The offence occurred on Wakefield Road during the early hours of 1 August 2026, involving a female victim in her 30s.

Following an investigation by Wakefield District Safeguarding officers, Michael Connors, aged 28, of Warmfield Lane, was arrested and charged with:

One count of rape

Connors appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 22 August 2026, and was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 12 September 2026.
