Olukanyinsola Odebode, aged 30, of Gainsborough Road, Cefn Golau, Tredegar, was handed a 12-year extended sentence at Swansea Crown Court on Friday, 21 August 2026, after being convicted of rape and sexual assault offences against two women.
The offences occurred between June 2024 and September 2025. The court heard Odebode sexually assaulted and raped a woman in the Gwent area before being arrested and placed on police bail. While on bail, Odebode carried out a further sexual assault against a second victim in the Dyfed-Powys area.
Following an investigation by Gwent Police and Dyfed-Powys Police, Odebode was placed on trial at Swansea Crown Court, where a jury found him guilty of:
- One count of rape
- Two counts of assault by penetration
The presiding judge deemed Odebode a dangerous offender and imposed a 12-year extended sentence comprising nine years in custody and three years on licence. Odebode must serve at least two-thirds of the custodial term before becoming eligible for parole review, and was made subject to lifetime registration on the Sex Offenders Register.
