Ryan Norton, then aged 19, of Clarkson Road, Norwich, has been sentenced to an extended 17-year term at Norwich Crown Court following a series of severe personal attacks against four female victims.
The court heard that Norton committed the offences between June 2021 and March 2022 against victims aged 13, 15, 21, and 22. Prosecutors detailed how Norton lured a 22-year-old woman to an abandoned mill in Bracondale, Norwich, where he subjected her to a violent assault.
Norfolk Constabulary launched an investigation, uncovering further offences against a 21-year-old woman and two children aged 13 and 15, whom Norton had targeted via social media platforms including Snapchat and in public parks.
Norton pleaded guilty to three counts of rape, two counts of sexual activity with a child, and three counts of assault by penetration.
On Friday 4 November 2022, Judge Katharine Moore declared Norton a dangerous offender and sentenced him to nine years in a young offenders institution with an eight-year extended licence period. The court also issued indefinite restraining and Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, placing Norton on the sex offenders register for life.
