In November 2022, Danny John Richards, then aged 59, of Salterns Lane, Hayling Island, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to ten child abuse offences.

The court heard details regarding a Hampshire Constabulary investigation into severe offences committed against two children who were under the age of two at the time of the acts. Prosecutors outlined how law enforcement officers seized electronic devices from Richards’ residence during investigative enquiries, uncovering evidence of illegal activity.

Officers executed the arrest of Richards on 28 July 2022, bringing formal charges shortly thereafter.

On 13 October 2022, Richards entered guilty pleas at Portsmouth Crown Court to ten counts, including physical assaults against a child under 13, making indecent photographs of a child, and taking indecent photographs of a child.

On Friday 11 November 2022, the presiding judge handed Richards a 20-year custodial sentence, issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and placed him on the sex offenders register for life, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
