In November 2022, Brian Stott, then aged 68, of Leeds, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court to 20 years and three months in prison, with an extended licence period of seven years and nine months, after pleading guilty to 28 child sexual offences.
The court heard details regarding a West Yorkshire Police investigation that originated in January 2018 when officers arrested Stott on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children. Digital forensic experts conducted extensive examinations of thousands of files across seized devices, uncovering covert camera recordings involving 10 children and two adults.
Although Stott had previously been tried and acquitted of sexual offences in 2017, a renewed investigation in 2021 located hidden video files showing Stott actively carrying out sexual assaults and rape against two young female victims.
Stott subsequently entered guilty pleas to 28 charges, including rape of a child under 13, assault by penetration of a child under 13, sexual activity with a child, 14 counts of voyeurism, making indecent images of children, and distributing indecent images of children.
In November 2022, the presiding judge handed Stott an extended sentence totaling over 28 years, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
