On 7 August 2026, David Brown, aged 35, formerly of St Annes, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple child sexual offences.
The court heard details regarding a Lancashire Police investigation into Brown, a former secondary school teacher in the Lytham St Annes area. Prosecutors outlined how Brown initiated a grooming campaign against a teenage pupil at his school in July 2024, utilizing his official school email account, social media platforms, and video calls.
From December 2025, the abuse escalated to physical contact. Brown drove the victim to secluded locations to engage in sexual activity and caused her to engage in sexual acts at a property.
In January 2026, Lancashire Police commenced enquiries after receiving a report from the victim’s parent. Officers searched Brown’s classroom desk, where they seized four hidden mobile phones containing approximately 700 sexual text messages between Brown and the victim.
Brown entered guilty pleas to one count of sexual communication with a child, three counts of sexual activity with a child, and one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
On Friday 7 August 2026, the presiding judge handed Brown an 11-year custodial term and ordered him to sign the sex offenders register, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
