On 7 August 2026, Mohammed Al Masri, aged 25, of Gordon Street, Abbey Hey, was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court to eight years in prison after being found guilty of rape.
The court heard details regarding a Greater Manchester Police investigation into an incident that occurred in the early hours of 22 December 2025. Prosecutors outlined how Al Masri approached the victim in Piccadilly Gardens as she walked to obtain a taxi, falsely offering assistance before boarding the vehicle with her.
Al Masri instructed the driver to travel to his residential address on Gordon Street, Abbey Hey, where he subsequently raped the victim inside the property.
Recognising the danger, the victim transmitted her live location to her partner via mobile device, enabling emergency services to be notified. Greater Manchester Police officers attended the address, rescued the survivor, and arrested Al Masri at the scene.
Following a trial in June 2026, a jury found Al Masri guilty of rape.
On Friday 7 August 2026, the presiding judge handed Al Masri an eight-year custodial sentence, alongside a restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, with all details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
