In November 2022, Troy Maurice, then aged 29, of London, was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court to six years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault, trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, and false imprisonment.
The court heard details regarding a Metropolitan Police investigation into offences committed in late March and early April 2022. Prosecutors outlined how Maurice stalked a central London university campus, tailgating female students through secure access doors into their private residential accommodation.
In the first incident, Maurice followed a student into a campus laundry room, waiting until the room was empty before sexually assaulting her. In a second incident, Maurice followed another student to her halls of residence, pushed her into her flat, and subjected her to a series of sexual assaults during a 12-hour ordeal.
Following an investigation by Metropolitan Police detectives, Maurice was charged and subsequently tried at Kingston Crown Court.
The jury convicted Maurice of two counts of trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of false imprisonment.
