In November 2022, Philip Robst, then aged 40, of HMP and YOI Moorland, Doncaster, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to possessing extreme pornography and multiple order breaches.
The court heard details regarding a West Yorkshire Police investigation into Robst, who had previously been convicted of sexual activity with a child and was subject to strict monitoring under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and the sex offenders’ register.
On 24 September 2021, officers inspected Robst’s electronic device in Bradford and discovered eight extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts with animals, consisting of seven still images and one video. Examinations also confirmed that numerous other files had been deleted from the device.
Further police enquiries established that Robst had repeatedly breached his SHPO conditions. He had created an unnotified Snapchat account utilizing cloud-based storage, refused to grant officers access to inspect his electronic hardware, and actively deleted browsing and device histories. He also failed to comply with statutory sex offender notification requirements.
Robst entered guilty pleas to five counts, including possession of extreme pornographic images, breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and failing to comply with sex offender register requirements.
In November 2022, the presiding judge at Bradford Crown Court handed Robst an 18-month custodial term, noting that his deliberate breaches were significantly aggravated by his previous convictions for child sexual offences, with all details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
