In 2021, Alan Bainbridge, THEN a 62-year-old man from Widnes, admitted possessing, downloading, and distributing hundreds of indecent images of children alongside extreme pornography.
Alan Bainbridge, of Doward Street, Widnes, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing, three counts of downloading, and one count of distributing indecent images of children, as well as one count of possessing extreme pornography. Chester Crown Court heard that between January and May 2020, Bainbridge collected over 500 child abuse files, including 151 Category A images and videos showing child rape, which he shared from an address in Warrington. Cheshire Police also seized 52 extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts with animals from his devices. Defence counsel requested an adjournment for a pre-sentence report, which Recorder Ian Unsworth QC granted while warning Bainbridge that all sentencing options remained open given the severity of the offences.
The judge adjourned sentencing to 5 July 2021 and remanded Bainbridge on conditional bail to reside at his address in Widnes.
Following his convictions, Bainbridge was made subject to interim notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
He also remains subject to ongoing risk assessments, pre-sentence probation evaluations, and law enforcement monitoring.
