A complex investigation conducted by detectives from our Child Sexual Exploitation team (CSE) resulted in the conviction of a former senior youth worker for six counts of sexual offences against multiple children between 2012 and 2022.
The individual was subsequently sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Following a 13-day trial at Hull Crown Court that concluded last month (Tuesday, 30 June 2026), Jacob Agnew, a 30-year-old resident of East Hull who identifies himself as white British, was convicted of four counts of sexual activity with a child, sexual assault, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
Furthermore, Agnew entered a guilty plea to four counts of sexual activity with a minor and fraud during an earlier court appearance.
He was also issued a five-year restraining order against all victims implicated. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life after appearing at Hull Crown Court for sentencing today (Friday, July 24, 2026).
Agnew will be required to remain on the barred and disclosure list indefinitely, which will prevent him from ever working in a juvenile setting again.
