In 2021, an adolescent girl was sexually assaulted and raped on multiple occasions by Owen Wicks, a man who was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Over the course of four years, Owen Wicks, then 34, is accused of abusing the girl on numerous occasions at addresses in Kent and Nottinghamshire.

He was finally apprehended after another teenage girl reported that he had also assaulted her.

In September 2019, Nottinghamshire Police detectives initiated an inquiry into Wicks’ conduct and interviewed numerous witnesses.

Wicks denied all of the allegations made in police interviews, asserting that his victims were telling lies about their experiences.

However, a jury at Nottingham Crown Court disagreed and found Wicks guilty of seven sexual offences on Tuesday, including five rapes and two sexual assaults.

Wicks, of Richmond Road, Gillingham, was sentenced to a total of 16 years in prison on Wednesday, June 30.

Additionally, he was included in the sexual offenders’ register for an indefinite period and subjected to a sexual harm prevention order that will severely restrict his activities upon his release.
