In 2021, a sex beast from Chester, Joshua Hughes, was incarcerated for the kidnapping and rape of a schoolgirl.

Joshua Hughes, who possesses no fixed address, apprehended the 15-year-old in proximity to Grosvenor Park and escorted her to a nearby secluded area, where he subjected her to rape.

On Thursday, June 10, the then 27-year-old was found guilty of kidnap and rape following a four-day trial, and he appeared at Chester Crown Court today to receive his sentence.

Hughes was sentenced to 18 years in prison, with an additional seven years of supervised release.

He will also be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and be included in the sex offenders register upon his discharge from jail.

At Hughes’ sentencing, Judge Berkson stated, “The evidence clearly indicates that your intention on that evening was to abduct a girl for sexual intercourse.

“You are, in fact, the deviant rapist that the jury identified, and you have exhibited no remorse for your actions.

Last year, the incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, October 31.

Hughes approached the victim and her two companions as they ascended the steps near the suspension bridge toward the city centre.

Hughes secured the victim’s neck with his arm and took her to a nearby location, where he committed the rape. Subsequently, he ascended a wall and fled the scene.

The victim’s friends fled in search of assistance; one of them contacted 999 and informed other members of the public.

The victim was promptly located by the police, who promptly arrived at the scene to provide her with the necessary support and care.

An intricate investigation was initiated by detectives, including forensic analysis, extensive CCTV surveillance, and numerous witness enquiries.

Hughes was identified as a suspect and arrested on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, as a result of these enquiries.
