In 2026, the Offender Register confirmed that Reggie Cannon, A Stanley PAEDOPHILE, has been incarcerated for grooming a young girl before raping her in a park.
Reggie Cannon, who was 19 at the time, began communicating with the 14-year-old girl on Instagram, telling her he was 16 and still in school.
The exchange of messages persisted for several weeks, and Cannon made numerous visits to the girl’s residence following her graduation from school.
The girl was sexually assaulted and raped by Cannon in a park in Seaham in December 2020.
Following his arrest, a police investigation was initiated.
The 24-year-old resident of Stanley was previously accused of rape, sexual assault, and grooming, all of which he admitted to during a court appearance.
Additionally, he acknowledged that he had neglected to disclose that he had relocated, which resulted in his failure to adhere to the sex offender notification requirements.
At Durham Crown Court today (July 17), Cannon was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison.
Additionally, he was issued a ten-year restraining order to prevent him from contacting the girl, a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, and a lifelong listing on the sex offenders‘ register.
